Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
It’s not easy being a teacher! Each day, teachers show up for students, holding the space for growth and learning. Teaching takes stamina, patience, curiosity, self-care, kindness, empathy, and so much more.
To be a Springwell Teacher, well, you must be a unicorn! The teacher that is attuned to the Springwell Way is quite a unique person that walks in this world indeed. Our Springwell Teachers:
push themselves to their growing edges, and expect the same of our students
are entrepreneurial
are visionary
are creative
are funny
are talented weavers and improvisers
slow down enough to listen to their students, but are fast enough to keep up when students lead the way!
genuinely love learning
are philosophers
hold space for paradox
know that socio-emotional learning IS academic learning
know that process, meaning, and experience is just as important — if not more important — than content
are fierce advocates for student-centered learning and student agency
believe in learning for life
have global perspectives
facilitate knowledge of self for our students and help them see their power, their role, and their impact in the school community and the world
constantly encourage students to develop their voice and leadership, as well as honorable follower-ship and friendship
share their authentic selves with our community
and are just awesome human beings!
